Part Time Organist/Piano Player
We are currently seeking a part time organist/piano player! We are a congregation that has a rich history and appreciation of quality music. We seek an individual with strong musical skills and with an ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with others.
Specific areas of responsibility:
- Collaborate with the Director of Music and with the Senior Pastor.
- Provide organ and/or piano accompaniment for worship services once monthly on the last Sunday of each month. This would include preparing music for the prelude, the offertory, and the postlude for each service.
- Provide organ and/or piano accompaniment for Maundy Thursday, and for our Carol Fest Community Concert near or during Advent.
- Provide consultation to the Music Committee concerning the maintenance and condition of the organ.
- Attend Music Committee meetings when requested.
The candidates we seek will have characteristics to meet the following:
- Demonstrate aptitude for the work identified in this job description.
- Demonstrate ability to relate to, and communicate with others.
- Develop knowledge of the church year, hymnody, and related music.
Organ, Piano, and Keyboard Descriptions:
The organ is a two manual, 28 rank custom-built Howell pipe organ installed in 1979 and updated in 1995 by the Rutz Organ Co. to include a new solid state console and a new rank of Zymbelstern chimes. The piano is a Kawai grand piano with humidity control. In addition, we have a Calviano / Bechstein electric keyboard.
Compensation:
We will pay $250.00 per services that music is provided which includes travel time/expenses.
